How to play FreeCell

Play classic FreeCell online: all 52 cards face up, four free cells, and each suit built up from ace to king. Deals are numbered 1 to 32000 as in the Windows version, so you can replay any deal by its number; drag cards or tap to move them, get hints and undo, and cards the table no longer needs go up by themselves. Free, no ads.

Start a random deal with “New game”, or type a deal number from 1 to 32000 to play a particular one.
Build the eight columns down in alternating colours, one rank at a time. Each of the four free cells at the top left holds one card, and an empty column takes any card; how many cards move at once depends on the free cells and empty columns.
Build each suit up from ace to king to win; cards the table no longer needs go up by themselves.

FAQ

What are deal numbers?

Each number stands for one fixed deal, dealt the same way as the FreeCell that came with Windows, so a number means the same game in both, and you can compare times with friends on the same deal.

How many cards can I move at once?

The rules move one card at a time, but free cells and empty columns let a run travel step by step, so the game moves it for you: up to (free cells + 1) × 2 to the power of the empty columns, not counting a column you move into.

Can every deal be solved?

Of the classic 32,000 deals, only deal 11982 is known to be unsolvable.

Why do cards go up by themselves?

Cards that nothing on the table can still need, such as aces and twos, or a card whose two lower cards of the other colour are already up, move to the foundations on their own to save clicks.

Is my game saved?

Yes. The game in progress and your best time stay in this browser, so you can close the page and carry on later.
