FAQ
Which format should I choose?
For uploading to application or government websites, JPG is the safest choice because it is accepted almost everywhere. Use PNG for transparent backgrounds or sharp text screenshots. WebP files are smaller and suit web pages, but many application and government sites don’t accept them.
What happens when a transparent image is converted to JPG?
JPG doesn’t support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the color you choose (white by default), and the page tells you before converting. Converting to PNG or WebP keeps the transparency.
Does converting change the size or quality?
The pixel dimensions stay the same. PNG is lossless; JPG and WebP are encoded at the quality you choose, 92% by default. To change the size or get under a target KB, continue with resizing or compression below the result.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Decoding, processing and exporting all happen in your current browser; after closing the page you need to choose the files again. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported; convert iPhone HEIC photos with HEIC to JPG first. GIF and SVG are not supported yet.
