- Take an evenly lit, front-facing photo against a plain background such as white or light gray, and choose the original file.
- Pick US passport (2×2 in), 35×45 mm or custom pixels, then use the zoom and position sliders to center the head and keep the shoulders in the frame; set a KB limit if you need one.
- After generating, check the pixel size and file size, then download the ID photo, or export the 4×6-inch photo-paper PDF and print it at actual size.
FAQ
Can it change the background to blue or white for me?
Automatic background replacement is not offered. Take the photo in front of a plain background of the required color (or use a photo taken at a studio), then use this tool to crop it to size, control the file size and lay it out for printing. Follow the background color required by the issuing authority.
Is the result guaranteed to meet ID photo requirements?
No. The presets, US passport at 600×600 pixels and 35×45 mm at 413×531 pixels (both 300 dpi), are for reference only, and no print DPI is written into the file. Requirements for pixels, background, head size and KB differ between countries and organizations, so follow the issuing authority’s requirements. Other sizes can be made with custom pixels; they can be laid out for printing when they have the shape of a preset size.
How do I print on photo paper?
After generating, export a 4×6-inch photo-paper PDF: 2 US passport photos (2×2 in) or 6 photos of 35×45 mm, arranged in landscape or portrait automatically. A photo print service takes the JPG version of the same sheet instead. When printing at home, choose “Actual size / 100%” and turn off “Fit to page”.
Is it guaranteed to get under the KB limit?
JPGs keep the specified pixel size and have their quality lowered automatically to meet the limit; if it still doesn’t fit, you are told clearly, and the size is never reduced without asking. PNG is lossless, so lowering the quality cannot make it smaller. 1 KB is counted as 1,000 bytes.
